We have been told many times by government that the only dollar saved is the dollar not spent. I think our grandmother would use the term “pennywise and pound foolish” (if you don’t know what that means – google it). Everyday in healthcare we see evidence of this principle, however when “cost” is the primary principle in determining a health management plan, the results can have a real and often negative impact on peoples’ lives.
